I am in in-network (INN) provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). This means I have agreed to accept the negotiated rate your insurance has contracted for psychotherapy services.
I am an out-of-network (OON) provider for all other insurance plans. This means, I am NOT contracted with your insurance provider. However, if you have out of network coverage, you may qualify for reimbursement of a portion of your fee from your insurance. In order to do so, I can provide you with a “superbill” for reimbursement.
Please contact your insurance provider to verify you have out-of-network coverage. Some of the following questions will help guide you when consulting your benefits representative. When calling, you may use the following questions as a guide …
"I am calling to verify coverage for routine outpatient mental health services".
"Do I have out of network mental health coverage?"
If No, this indicates that your insurance does not cover you for out-of-network reimbursement. You may either have to see an In-Network provider or you can decide to pay out of pocket for services. You maybe able to deduct on your taxes as a medical expense however, you should speak to your accountant before hand. If you have a calling to work with me, do not hesitate to reach out.
If Yes, "Do I have any deductibles or co-insurance?" This indicates that you are responsible for meeting your deductible first before the insurance provider begins to reimburse you any portions of your fees paid.
"What is the reimbursement rate for out of network coverage?". The representative may say (i.e: 60/40, 80/20 or some variation depending on your plans contract). In essence, this means once you have met your out of network deductible, your insurance will reimburse either 80% or 60% of the fees paid. Sometimes this is comparable, equal to or less than an in network co pay.
Payment is due at the time of the session unless we have agreed upon an alternative plan.
